Key Takeaways
- Hydro Traveler, while free, lacks damage potential and struggles as a main DPS due to weak skills.
- Anemo Traveler's kit is basic and lacks specialist value, but benefits from the Viridescent Venerer set.
- Geo Traveler serves as a decent Geo battery for teams like Mono-Geo, but has been overshadowed by newer options.

When you go into the world of Genshin Impact, the first character you get to play as is the Traveler. Regardless of if you choose Aether or Lumine, they're your first experience of how it feels to be in Teyvat. To keep the Traveler from being obsolete, Hoyoverse releases new kits for each element whenever a nation comes out!

We take a look at the characters that work best with Hu Tao to make the most of her incredible DPS.
Unfortunately, as you get more characters, Teyvat's supposed main character takes a backseat to characters that just perform better. This is because most Traveler kits are lackluster at best. However, this doesn't mean the Traveler can't do anything; it's just that certain elements are better than others!
5 Hydro Traveler
Bubbles Are Not Known For Their Destructive Power
✕ Remove Ads
Since you get the Traveler for free, they're never going to be a premium option. However, so long as they have supportive abilities, they can function decently. Unfortunately, Hydro MC's kit is designed around being a main DPS, something very difficult to be when you lack damage.
You can increase HMC's Elemental Burst damage by hitting Dendro Cores with it. This is because each time a new entity, including Dendro Cores, is hit, a pulse of Hydro DMG is triggered.
Hydro Traveler, or HMC, has absolutely nothing going for them. Their skill shoots out bubbles that deal the same damage you'd expect to take from actual bubbles of water. Their Elemental Burst deals insignificant damage as well, and while it can hit repeatedly, it moves too fast to hit any enemy more than once or twice. Even their constellations are geared towards increasing their own damage, making Hydro MC pretty much useless in any team you can put them in.
4 Anemo Traveler
Carried By Viridescent Venerer

Anemo is the first element you get upon entering the world of Teyvat. While the Anemo Traveler's kit is not worthless, it's just too basic and doesn't have any specialist value. Their Elemental Skill deals a somewhat decent amount of damage, but their Burst is better left unused.

If you have Genshin Impact's Battle Pass, be sure to collect the best weapons you can for your characters.
The only reason Anemo MC, or AMC, is better than Hydro Traveler is because they have access to the Viridescent Venerer set, one of the best artifact sets in Genshin Impact. This allows them to be a very decent replacement for Anemo characters like Jean, increasing even more with their C6's RES shred.
3 Electro Traveler
Good Energy Battery
✕ Remove Ads
Electro's identity revolves around Energy Recharge. True to the theme, Electro MC, or EMC, is a superb universal battery for most teams! Their Elemental Skill summons Abundance Amulets that recover Flat Energy upon a nearby party member picking them up. Since this energy is neither colored nor an orb, the Energy Recharge of the character that picks up an Amulet doesn't matter.
Electro Traveler's constellations grant them additional bonuses, such as Electro RES shred. This can make them an excellent character for teams that include Beidou or Fischl.
The Electro Traveler also has off-field Electro application on their Elemental Burst, similar in nature to how Xingqiu works. Furthermore, their constellations give them huge boosts to their efficiency as an Energy Battery for teammates such as Eula. However, since their personal Burst costs 80 Energy, as well as their damage lacking behind other Electro Battery options like Fischl, Electro Main Character doesn't see much play.
2 Geo Traveler
Decent Geo Support
✕ Remove Ads
While forgotten due to better Geo options, Geo Traveller was a very decent pick for Mono-Geo teams, which included Arataki Itto or Noelle. This was because of how good of a Geo Battery they were due to their C4 granting energy to all nearby party members. The GMC also had decent damage!
Geo MC grants nearby party members a hefty ten percent CRIT Rate bonus with their first constellation!
However, as more and more characters started coming out, their value diminished until they were completely forgotten. They're still a great Geo battery and one of Noelle's better teammates, but the spark they once had is no more.
1 Dendro Traveler
Can Be Better Than Other Four-Star Dendro Supports
✕ Remove Ads
Dendro brought with it many changes to the Genshin Impact meta. Sure, the Dendro reactions were one of them, but Sumeru also introduced the first Traveler that was not only competitive with other options but better than most of them!
Dendro MC, or DMC, has a very simple kit. Their Elemental Skill helps them gather energy quickly, and their Elemental Burst is still one of the best ways to apply Dendro for a free character. Even compared to other limited four-stars such as Collei or Kaveh, Dendro Traveler reigns supreme as one of the strongest Dendro characters in the game from a purely free-to-play standpoint.
