2024 Switchyard Park Concerts | Bloomington Music Events (2024)

What is it?

These are two FREE Thursday evening outdoor concerts featuring world-classtouring artists at Switchyard Park in Bloomington, Indiana this summer. Bloomington is incredibly honored to be hosting these events.

On Thursday, June 20, Tune-Yards and Y La Bamba will be performing. Tune-Yards, an Oakland, California-based innovative pop band, will be playing new material as well as songs from their album, Nikki Nack, as a nod to the record's 10-year anniversary. International folk band, Y La Bamba, is also featured on the bill. Luz Elena Mendoza fronts Y La Bamba and NPR said, “Mendoza has such a far-reaching creative spirit that it’s almost impossible to confine to a singular musical identity." This is the only scheduled 2024 live concert from Tune-Yards and you won't see this line-up anywhere else.

Lindsay Lou and TORRES will play the free show on Thursday, July 18. Bloomington is fortunate to have Lindsay Lou headlining this concert with Rolling Stone recently saying she is poised to be the next Queen of Bluegrass!Catch Lindsay live while you can! Merge Records recording artist, TORRES, opens the concert bringing their unique, guitar-driven indie rock to the stage. This promises to be a high-energy fun night.

When is it?

Thursday, June 20 with Y La Bamba beginning at 6:30 PM EST. Tune-Yards will start at approximately 8:00 PM and the music will end by 10:00 PM EST. TORRES starts the show on July 18 at 7:00 PM EST followed by Lindsay Lou.

Where is it?

Switchyard Park is located at 1601 S. Rogers Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47403. The Switchyard Park sits on the B-line Trail and is conveniently walkable from downtown Bloomington. The live music takes place on the Switchyard Park main stage on the east side of the park.

What does it cost to attend?

The concert is free for everyone. Parking is also free. There is parking available at Switchyard Park, but it is limited and could fill up. If needed, overflow parking will be allowed in a clearly marked and attended lot on Rogers Street just north of the park. Here is a parking map and please follow the concert parking signs. We encourage attendees to ride their bicycles to the park or perhaps walk to the show on the B-Line Trail.

What else do I need to know?

Thanks to Food Truck Friday for arranging for several food trucks to be there selling a variety of food beginning at approximately 5:00 PM. There will be other vendors and activities yet to be determined.

The concert area will be inside a fence and there will be an area where alcoholic beverages can be purchased. Concert goers must be 21 to purchase alcoholic beverages and security will be present in this area and throughout the park.

Feel free to bring your personal coolers containing non-alcoholic drinks, outdoor chairs, and blankets to lounge on the concert lawn and enjoy the shows. We hope you get there early, claim your spot on the lawn, and hang out with us for a fantastic evening of music and community.
